Othy* – “I started taking piano lessons at a very young age, from the age of 8 to 12 years of age, forced by my loving mother, for about 5 years. I had a smooth command of music, but would memorize everything I was to learn instead of learning to “read” music. I never practiced except for the hour each week at the lesson. Not the best plan of attack when I look back on having such a great opportunity to study music, especially when you come from a family of below poverty level income. Do you currently take music lessons? Cherish them and work hard at them, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE…… they will not last forever! Ironically enough I became a music teacher by 18 years of age, and I continue to teach at Othy’s Place to this day.” www.othysplace.com

 – “I picked up a guitar at 14 years of age and found something that could hold it’s own for a full sound with no other instruments needed. First band on record was “Qulm” pronounced as “Calm” but spelled differently, a good name that parents wished their kids played that type of music, as all parents wanted their kids not in a punk band, and be good outstanding fine youth. Next band I was in was “A.D.D Victims” called this due to the fact all members of the band were self diagnosed by their parents as having A.D.D., but dropped as fans would pronounce the name as “Add Victims”. Then became known as “Oneder Factor”, based from the movie “That Thing you Do” as people pronounced their name also. And finally that basic same group being known as “Rocket Dog” with the same logo as the European Shoe company. Back then things like that were thought to never jump the pond, but they did and therefore the name was dropped. During that period I also played in a band named “Lemon Rust”, named after a really rusty 85′ Chevy S-10 with more rust than yellow paint left. Taking a break from music, soon friends got together and formed the band “Scene of the Crash” a 3 member acoustic show, in this I played Cajon, Bass, Beats on my acoustic guitar, and the leads on my first 89′ Stratocaster, anything that would help their sound. Then I joined the band “Risky Business” only to use the name for 2 shows and change the name to “Red Eye”, another movie named group were I played in for almost 6 years. Red Eye was the first band were I was the lead vocalist for. In that time I also did about 3 months as rhythm guitarist for the band “Slingshot”, which was my first mostly country band experience. Always having a love of 2 types of music that never seemed to fit together, “80’s Hair, and Country” music, but they do, they have a huge love of guitar/keys, and harmonies.”
